It was hard to separate the land from people in Cambodia. In light of its history, the two seemed to have such a powerful connection. Reading Loung Ung’s book First They Killed My Father, she recounted how friends neighbor, and families turned against each other, and how openly walking on a path in the countryside was full of risk .
