Three Generations
From their early years, children learn songs, dances, and guitar music that have been passed on for generations. In the past decade, as children grow, other opportunities arise in the form of work beyond the immediate and difficult farming areas of the hilly regions, such as seeking employment in cities, other rural areas, and attending school. As a result, in order to maintain their identity as a minority culture, the two women (center, right) see performing as means to promoting and sustaining their culture, and creating some prosperity for the village. Of the approximately, 400 villagers, about half participate in tourist related activities.
